Helping Schools Deliver Sustainable Energy
Schools throughout Ireland are now eligible to apply for fully funded solar panels under the government's school solar panel scheme.
The Solar for Schools Programme provides eligible schools with up to 6 kilowatts peak of roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, which equates to approximately 14 solar panels.
This vital funding helps schools create renewable energy directly on-site, significantly reducing energy costs and carbon emissions while simultaneously providing an excellent learning opportunity for students to understand renewable energy and climate change.
Funding has now been approved to proceed with solar PV installations on all remaining eligible schools across the country. This means that up to 4,000 primary, post-primary, and special schools are eligible for the programme.
